Andrea Perrone, acoustic guitarist and composer is from Porto Alegre, Brazil. She plays acoustic guitar with personality, in a percussive and harmonically rich way. Self-taught at guitar, she easily shifts from various styles with her popular and multiple acoustic guitar playing. The highlights of her work are the use of alternate tunings and short cut partial guitar capos which create color and texture to her solo guitar act.
Being a solo artist since 2011, Perrone has won several awards as a composer and instrumentalist; she has released albums and compilations, toured both Brazil and other countries, having performed in Argentina, Colombia, Italy, Mexico, England and Canada. In Brazil, she has performed at important events, such as Projeto Violões Brasileiros (Brazilian Acoustic Guitars Project) alongside acoustic guitarist André Geraissati, Perrone’s inspiration concerning alternate tunings.
She joined Violão e Ponto, a portal exclusively for the acoustic guitar world as a columnist. Her articles alone, have exceeded 180 thousand views so far; they range from guitar techniques, career management to the place of women as acoustic guitarists and she has also interviewed important acoustic guitarists from all over the world; in addition, she has put up two editions of Palco Aberto [Open Stage] in Porto Alegre/RS; she has created 1ª Mostra de Mulheres Violonistas [1st Women Acoustic Guitarists Show], a three-night event on Mulheres Violonistas collective YouTube channel.
In order to better train acoustic guitarists and share her experience, Andrea was invited to carry out a Video Production for Guitarists course for the Violão e Ponto Festival and also Video Production for Musicians course for SESC-SP [Trade Social Service-São Paulo]. She currently presents a series on music business and career management for acoustic guitarists at ZapMusic, a music streaming platform.
Since 2020 she is a member at AIVIC – International Association of Women Composers for Acoustic Guitar.
